"The post-convergence of new media art means it can mimic any other artistic practice, and may thus also become one more way of embellishing everyday life, generating a quantity of works that are often volatile, ephemeral, decorative and hardly memorable. But that post-convergence can also lead digital art to follow in the footsteps of those who insist on questioning the dignity, usefulness, democratic character and accessibility of art, in a society full of useless things, where democracy hides a perpetual choice between A and B and social asymmetries are glaring, where there is a whole invisible Humanity. New media art can contribute to that visibility, with an advantage over other artistic forms and practices, because it speaks the language of the present, because it has access to its communication networks, because it can insinuate itself as embellishment, and question under that cover."
