The THIS.PLAY.ME project (which I authored) set out to lay the foundations for a new concept of a living, active, attractive and engaging "cultural centre". THIS.PLAY.ME was a modern, dynamic concept in which artists took part in organising the events, events were sought out by those who would truly enjoy them, art was accessible, and spaces were used in multiple ways, also hosting courses, workshops, seminars and conferences, with room for relocating events to neighbouring venues, thereby also helping to make them known.
The project was presented in Lisbon and Cascais by Luís Beethoven and me, and by me alone in Oeiras and Barreiro, and had a list of more than thirty artists who expressed their support.
It was aimed at a community of contemporary artists of all ages, with no exclusions, the only requirement being that they produced art – from music to film, fashion to photography, design to theatre, poetry to circus arts, gastronomy to sculpture, painting to video art – and that they collaborated in, or rather were an integral part of, the events organised and produced by that same community.
The name THIS.PLAY.ME conveyed each person's wish to be the protagonist, if only through a selfie, and the simultaneous desire to have fun.
