A "bestiary" is a kind of book or encyclopaedia that appeared in the Middle Ages, compiling knowledge about "beasts", that is, animals. Given the period, many of the "beasts" were fantastic animals, born of speculation, of fears, and of the new lands then being discovered, from which came accounts of fantastic creatures. This series is based on depictions of some "beasts", mainly from the Aberdeen Bestiary, which I have reinterpreted.
