Webinar at the 4th labIMAGEM Symposium — Video Art and Generative AI, organised by labIMAGEM at the School of Architecture, Arts, Communication and Design (FAAC) of the São Paulo State University (UNESP), Bauru campus, with the support of FAPESP, on 5 November 2026. Moderated by Regilene Sarzi-Ribeiro.
The session moves the debate on generative AI in video art away from image generation and towards the creative process as a whole: conception, generation, editing, assembly and sound. Rather than discussing the wholesale delegation of creation to a prompt, however iterated, it proposes a matrix that locates, stage by stage, where authorial decision remains and what may be shared, and applies it to documented cases in which delegation occurred at different stages.
It closes with a self-reflexive and deliberately unfinished list of ethical, authorial and environmental implications, and with an exercise proposed to participants, to be carried out outside the time of the session.
